We were not even around the years of the Depression. I'm sure you've heard stories told by grandparents or even great-grandparents who lived through those times.

If you have school-age children, chances are you have little things around your house you can use to make Christmas gifts. All you need is some glue, scissors, construction paper and perhaps what else you can find around your house can become great work of art or something useful. If you're clever, you will find many items in your home that could have gone to the trash you have the know how to sew or make things either needle, plastic canvas, knitting, crocheting or embroidery, you can also find something that you can have someone in your family can use. If you can follow a recipe, you can always find jars and layer the dry ingredients for muffins, cookies., etc., decorate the bottle as he pleases and Shazam! You have a gift for someone that comes from your heart and not your wallet.

Christmas is not and should never be any money. There is nothing wrong with the basics. Who knows? You can even start a new tradition in your family. Each year at least one gift must be made at home. Often handmade gifts are the most beloved.
