The idea of celebrating the birth of Jesus was made to counteract the pagan feast days held in Rome during the winter solstice. Church leaders thought Christmas celebrations were more likely to be popular if it coincides with the traditional festivals and celebrations during the winter solstice.

Joseph also had a dream shortly after the Magi left in which an angel appeared and said to Mary and Jesus to Egypt because Herod ordered the killing of Jesus. In an effort to kill Jesus after the Magi did not return to tell you about The whereabouts of the baby, after Herod ordered all baby boys in Bethlehem should be killed. But by then, Mary and Joseph had gone with Baby Jesus.
