Big One-Star Quilts by Magic> / i> by Nancy Johnson-Srebro is his second book easy pattern to Lone Star or Star of Bethlehem quilts without using diamond-shaped and the bias they bring. Nancy patterns are only made with squares and rectangles.
Fourteen designs vary in design star and are easy enough for beginners Quilters levels. From simple to complex future for traditional patterns seem to have been made with diamonds, and they are not! Easy to use cutting techniques of rectangles and squares are all that you use to give the effect of diamonds. Removed all "Y" together to add the background the Star. Nancy provides cutting sizes and 4 sizes of diagrams for each pattern.
I recommend the choice of fabrics without directional print for certain blocks where you want the seams to be invisible. Nancy shows each pattern fabric made in two totally different color combinations. This really is the key to the desired appearance in the final. There are generally three to six colors of fabric used in each finished quilt shown. The pieces are quite large, color and design may change the whole look.
Fourteen additional models included mostly made with leftover fabric cut pieces of stars! They make the perfect back the star. Additional tissue borders may be necessary to obtain the same size. Being "green" and reuse, recycle, recover your notebook to the back or another quilt. Is this is the 21st century version of the quilt of the "economy?"
The other major reason to own this book is quilted patterns. Nancy has two completely different quilting patterns and fabulous shows for each pattern. They are unique, complex and beautiful enough for use in quilts whole cloth as the main form design. Quilting by hand or machine, no templates or designs sewn continuous line diagrams, but the illustrations and curves. There are many designs to list, ranging from easy and simple form combining different pattern designs smaller and tighter coverage.
The resulting quilt is almost completely covered with stitches, as they have been in the 19th century when it was the style that was necessary because the cotton batting separately and move if not held down to the lines near the seam. Areas of color are detailed for quilting pattern fill that color and drawing the eye away the seams. Patterns accentuate the big star.
Traditionalists can take a break from the original Star of Bethlehem pattern and make two, three, even four of these patterns as gifts in less time. No one receiving your gift will be the wiser.
